More Than Conquerors

Turn with me in your bibles to Romans 8:37-39. That’s Romans 8:37-39.
"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers,
nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
God loved us so much that He gave His Son Jesus Christ to die for us and to rise from the dead
so that our sins could be forgiven, and we could have everlasting life with Him.
Jesus also came to redeem us from the power of the devil
so that we could be MORE than conquerors here on earth.
A conqueror is someone who defeats, dominates,
and takes authority over something or someone else.
Anyone who conquers the conqueror is MORE than a conqueror.
The devil is a conqueror because he conquered Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Jesus is MORE than a conqueror because He conquered the devil.
Everyone who accepts Jesus as their Saviour are made MORE than conquerors through Him.
Turn with me to Genesis 1:26-28. That’s Genesis 1:26-28.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing
that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
Let us read Genesis 2:16-17. That’s Genesis 2:16-17.
“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying,
Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Now, let us read Genesis 3:1-6. That’s Genesis 3:1-6.
“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said,
Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
When God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden,
He gave them the power and the authority to have dominion over everything on the earth;
and, that included the devil who was in the form of a serpent.
Adam and Even sinned when they obeyed the devil and disobeyed God;
when they ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
which God had told them not to eat from.
Their sins caused them to be separated from God who was their power source.
When they became separated from their power source,
they lost their power and their authority to dominate everything on the earth.
Then, the devil took control over them. They were powerless without God.
Just as a computer, for example, is powerless when it is unplugged from its power source.
When Jesus came, He conquered the devil through His death and resurrection.
Jesus gave the power and authority that God had given to Adam and Eve
back to everyone who accepts Him as their Saviour.
Turn with me to Hebrews 2:14-15. That’s Hebrews 2:14-15.
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death,
that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death
were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has set us free from the bondage of the devil.
We need to be MORE than conquerors here on earth.
Galatians 5:1 tells us “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Jesus has given us back the power and the authority
to be MORE than conquerors here on earth.
After He had risen from the dead, Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20,
“…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
After He had risen from the dead, Jesus said in Mark 16:15-18,
“…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;
they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents;
and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
When we accept Jesus as our Saviour,
He gives us the power and the authority to represent Him here on earth,
just as it was intended for Adam and Eve to represent God on earth.
Jesus is MORE than a conqueror, and, when we accept Him as our Savior,
we are made MORE than conquerors, too.
Turn with me to 2 Corinthians 5:17-21. That’s 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,
and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us:
we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.“
We are in Christ Jesus when we accept Him as our Saviour.
Our spirits become new and are filled with the things of God.
We are no longer separated from God by the sin of Adam,
but we are reconciled back to Him by the obedience of Jesus Christ.
God did not make us pay for our sins because we were unable to do so.
Jesus paid the price for us because He was sinless and righteous.
Jesus took our sins upon Himself and He gave us His righteousness.
Jesus has gone back to heaven. He is no longer here on earth.
He has given us, who accept Him as our Saviour,
the power and the authority to represent Him here on earth.
He has made us His ambassadors. An ambassador is someone who is in another country
and he is representing the leader of his own country.
His duty is to do whatever his leader tells him to do,
and to say whatever his leader tells him to say.
Jesus is our leader. He is our head. We are His ambassadors here on earth.
Our duty is to tell the world whatever He tells us to say, and to do whatever He tells us to do.
We all have been told to be witnesses for Him by telling the world
the good news of what God has done for everyone
through the birth, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
We can do whatever God tells us to do, and we can say whatever God tells us to say,
because He has made us MORE than conquerors
through Jesus Christ, His Son, who loves us.
